Dr. Buzzell is a board-certified pediatric dentist with a gentle and calm demeanor that puts even the most fearful patients at ease. Dr. Buzz (as he is known by his patients) treats every child as he would his own – with compassion, patience and love. He has extensive experience in working with children with special needs including those born with craniofacial abnormalities like cleft lip and cleft palate. Dr. Buzz wakes up every morning excited to help children gain the confidence they need to reach their goals.
After earning a dental degree at Loma Linda University. Dr. Buzz completed his residency at New York University. He also holds a master’s degree in public health and is the fourth generation in his family to pursue education in this field. A proud veteran, Dr. Buzz served in the United States Navy for six years and is currently a member of the Active Reserves. He has received numerous accolades from the military, including the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. Dr. Buzz belongs to many professional organizations including the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), San Diego County Dental Society (SDCDS), the American Dental Association (ADA) and the California Dental Association (CDA). He is especially proud to be a member of the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry (CSPD), a nationally recognized leader in organized pediatric dentistry.
Serving the less fortunate is close to Dr. Buzz’s heart, and he has helped countless children locally and internationally. He is also dedicated to inspiring young people to make a difference in the world and is a professional mentor for students at Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU), as well as an adjunct faculty member on the campus. According to Dr. Buzz, working with children and college students and serving those in need gives him a unique perspective on life. It is his goal to always look at the world through the eyes of a child.
A self-described “beach bum”, Dr. Buzz can often be found at Ocean Beach’s Dog Beach with his wife, daughter and their dog, Carmen San Diego.
Dr. Spencer, an American Board of Pediatric Dentistry certified pediatric dentist, loves working with children. Their high energy and inquisitive spirits make Dr. Spencer smile each and every day. He is committed to teaching children that going to the dentist can be fun and rewarding. His number one goal with each patient is to provide a safe place for them to receive dental care and make them feel like a million bucks when they visit the dentist.
Dr. Spencer earned his doctor of dental surgery degree from Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, Nebraska and went on to complete his residency at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, where he served as chief resident. Dr. Spencer is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), the California Dental Association (CDA) and the San Diego County Dental Society (SDCDS).
While attending dental school, Dr. Spencer received the Dr. and Mrs. Philip J. Maschka award, which is awarded for patient concern, integrity, professionalism, clinical skills and ethics. According to Dr. Spencer, this honor is one he strives to live up to with every patient. He is especially proud when children who were fearful of the dentist become active (and happy) participants in their dental care.
In Dr. Spencer’s free time, Dr. Spencer can be found spending time with his wife, Melodee and their five children. The Mauseth family enjoys running, reading, surfing, skiing and riding bikes. According to Dr. Spencer, being a husband and a father is by far the greatest joy in his life.
Dr. Chris L. Pham is a board certified pediatric dentist serving the children of San Diego. He graduated with honors from the Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco, where he is currently a visiting clinical professor. Dr. Chris is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and is actively involved in the California Dental Association, the American Dental Association and the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry. He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, a distinction few dentists and San Diego can claim.
Dr. Chris also plays an active role in the local dental community. He serves as a chairman for the San Diego County Dental Society, serving on the Ethics Committee. He is on staff at Scripps Hospital, La Jolla and is adjunct faculty at UCSD Medical School – Department of Preventative and Family Medicine. Dr. Chris is affiliated with, and an advisor to, Point Loma Nazarene University, San Diego State University and UCLA.
Known for his calm and patient demeanor with children of all ages, Dr. Chris also participates in dental mission work in Vietnam, Guatemala, Mexico and other underserved areas of the world.
When Dr. Chris is not in the office, he can often be found at the beach or on the ski slopes. He enjoys spending his free time with his wife, Katherine, their children and their two dogs.
